Increasing the number of foreign companies in Thailand

In the first 10 months of 2022 alone, 480 foreign companies received a business permit, which have an authorized capital of 106.4 billion baht ($3 billion).

What led to this result?

The Business Development Authority said that in the first 10 months of this year, 480 foreign firms with registered capital of 106.4 billion baht ($3 billion) received permission to operate in Thailand.

Trend. Deputy General Manager of the department, Jittakorn Wongkhetkorn, noted that the number of newly registered foreign companies in 10 months increased by 8% compared to the same period of the previous year, and the authorized capital of these foreign companies increased by 72%.

Citizenship. Japanese investors top the list of foreign investors who registered their companies in Thailand in the first 10 months of this year, Jittakorn said. He noted that the top three foreign investors who registered their companies in Thailand from January to October this year included 15 Japanese, 5 Hong Kongers and 4 Singaporeans.

Perspectives. According to the department’s statistics over the past three years, between 68,000 and 72,000 new companies will be registered in Thailand by the end of 2022, including both domestic and foreign companies.
