Georgia begins implementation of a project to improve infrastructure in cities with a budget of $382 million

The Georgia Municipal Development Fund announced the launch of a five-year program of 1 billion lari (equivalent to $382 million) to improve and develop infrastructure in 11 localities across the country. As part of this initiative, presented by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, work will be carried out to repair and develop objects and monuments in the following cities: Borjomi, Bakuriani, Kutaisi, Tskhaltubo, Telavi, Zugdidi, Batumi, Mtskheta, Stepantsminda, Mestia and Kazbegi.

The following locations will be included in the renovation and development plan:

The central park and historical center in the city of Borjomi in the central-western direction.
Central park and a new recreation area near Lake Tsivi in the western balneological resort of Tskaltubo.
New boulevard in the western city of Zugdidi.
The historical part of the city of Kutaisi, the botanical garden and the Lado Meskhishvili Theater in the western part of the city.
Batoni Castle and its surroundings, as well as the Vazha-Pshavela Drama Theater in the eastern city of Telavi.
The historical part of the city of Batumi, located near the Black Sea.
Historical sights in the municipalities of Kazbegi, Bakuriani and Mestia.

Two years ago, a similar urban development program was launched, which covered 63 municipalities of Georgia and included the modernization and centralization of cities. The total budget of this program was 500 million lari ($191.22 million).
